Reacting to an urgent request for assistance, Marine Power Systems deployed to Coromandel township to attend a Mussel harvesting vessel which had suffered major failure of the main engine. The defect occurred during a particularly busy harvesting period causing a major inconvenience and loss of earnings to the vessel owner.

Using boroscopic cameras, it was quickly identified that significant damage had occurred to cylinder No2. The engine was removed and transported to our Kopu workshop where repairs were carried out including the replacement of 3 pistons and cylinder heads.

Once complete the engine was transported back to Coromandel town and fitted to the vessel during the same day. Subsequent sea trials proved that the engine was operating correctly and the vessel was made available for harvesting operations.
